The Member Organizations
The co-operatives can be divided into five categories: marketing, purchasing, breeding, finance and consulting.

Marketing Co-operatives:

TINE Group 
TINE’s core business is the processing and selling of milk and milk products based on Norwegian milk, but the group is also involved in the production and selling of other food products. TINE is represented all over the country with its 16 312 owners, approx. 5 540 employees, 45 dairies and 6 other production plants. The group has five regional dairy companies as well as several wholly- and partly owned subsidiaries. Annual turnover: approx. 17 billion NOK.

Nortura SA
Nortura SA is the result of the merger between Gilde Norsk Kjøtt BA and Prior Norge BA, and is owned by approx. 28 100 farmers. The company’s objective is to secure the sale of Norwegian meat and eggs and create value for the owners. Nortura produces some of the country’s leading brands, Gilde and Prior being the most well-known. The company has approx. 6 500 employees and its industrial activities take place in 37 municipalities all over the country. Annual turnover: approx. 17 billion NOK.

AL Gartnerhallen
Gartnerhallen is the largest organization in Norway for producers of fruits, vegetables and potatoes. The company is owned by approx. 1 400 producers and has about 20 employees. Gartnerhallen cooperates with the large market operators within industry, distribution and sales in Norway. The products are mainly traded through BAMA Gruppen AS and Norges Gruppen ASA. GARTNER is one of Gartnerhallen’s most well-known brands. Annual turnover: approx. 1.4 billion NOK.

HOFF Norske Potetindustrier
HOFF handles a third of Norway’s potato produce, which makes the company the largest in the country when it comes to potato processing. Several of the products are market leaders and sold mainly under the brand HOFF. The company is owned by about 500 potato producers. HOFF has 230 employees, the head office is situated in the town of Gjøvik, and production is divided between 5 companies. Annual turnover: approx. 488 million NOK.

Honningcentralen
Honningcentralen processes and markets honey. The company is owned by approx. 1 550 bee-keepers from all across the country and has 17 employees. Honningcentralen’s most well-known product is the golden canister with “Real Honey” (“Ekte honning”) which has been on the market since 1927. Annual turnover: approx. 71 million NOK.

Norges Skogeierforbund
Norges Skogeierforbund (the Norwegian Forest Owners’ Federation) is a special interest organization for eight district co-operatives for forest owners, 342 local forest owner societies and about 39 000 forest owners. Norges Skogeierforbund employs about 340 people. The forestry co-operatives are behind approx. 80 per cent of all forest production in Norway and have significant shares in Norwegian and international forestry. The main source of income for most of the members, is the sale of timber. However, profits from the sale of hunting and fishing rights, as well as the renting of cabins, are greatly increasing. Annual turnover: approx. 2.3 billion NOK.

Norges Pelsdyralslag
Norges Pelsdyralslag is a member organization for Norwegian breeders of furred animals. The fur industry is relatively big in Norway, and the organization has about 700 members and 50 employees. Norges Pelsdyralslag provides guidance for its members and markets furs for the export market. The goal of the organization is to look after the interests of the members, both professionally, financially and socially. Annual turnover: approx. 288 million NOK, though this number varies significantly depending on the market situation.

Purchasing Co-operatives:

Felleskjøpet
Felleskjøpet (the Norwegian Agricultural Purchasing and Marketing Co-operation, FK) consists of two regional co-operatives that purchase and produce production equipment for agriculture (fertilizer, feed concentrates, machines, etc.) as well as process and sell grain and grain products for both humans and animals. FK is owned by about 45 000 farmers and employs approx. 2 000 people. Annual turnover: approx. 10.8 billion NOK.

Breeding Co-operatives:

Geno
Geno is the breeding organization for Norsk Rødt Fe (Norwegian Red, NRF), the main dairy breed in Norway. The organization’s main product is high quality semen of the best NRF sires. Geno exports semen to more than 20 countries through its subsidiary, Geno Global.   Geno is owned by about 13 000 beef and milk producers and has 250 employees. Annual turnover: approx. 254 million NOK.

Norsvin
Norsvin works with breeding and consulting connected to pork production. Norsvin is owned by about 2 000 pork producers and has 71 employees. Norsvin has a subsidiary, Norsvin International as. Annual turnover: approx. 190 million NOK.

TYR Norsk Kjøttfeavlslag
TYR is an organization for farmers who produce meat from beef cattle, both purebreds and crossbreeds. The goal of the organization is to promote meat production with beef cattle. TYR has about 1 500 members and employs three people. Annual turnover: approx. 7 million NOK.

Norsk Sau og Geit
Norsk Sau og Geit works to promote rational and profitable sheep and goat farming in Norway. The organization has about 12 200 members and 18 employees. Annual turnover: approx. 25 million NOK.

Banking and Insurance Co-operatives:

Landkreditt
Landkreditt is a credit co-operative. Through its subsidiary, Landkreditt Bank AS, it offers long-term basic financing to farmers in return for mortgages on property. Landkreditt Bank AS is an Internet-based bank that offers free of charge use of online banking, bank cards, savings accounts, etc. Another subsidiary, Landkreditt Forvaltning AS, offers fund and pension products. Landkreditt has approx. 12 000 members, and net lending to agriculture totals approx. 8.6 billion NOK. Landkreditt employs about 80 people.

Gjensidige Forsikring   
Gjensidige is one of the leading players in the Nordic general insurance market. The group offers general insurance products in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and the three Baltic countries. In addition the group offers online retail banking, pension and savings products and health care services in Norway. Gjensidige has approx. 3 700 employees, of which about
2 000 work in general insurance operations in Norway. For 2007, Gjensidige paid back surpluses of 700 million NOK to its customers, based on the size of the individual prime.

Norsk Landbruksrådgiving
Norsk Landbruksrådgiving is a special interest and service organization for the advisory and experimental societies in Norway. The goal of Norsk Landbruksrådgiving is to look after the interests of the member organizations so that they can offer those services that are in demand.
