The Federation of Norwegian Agricultural Co-operatives (FNAC) is a special interest organization for agricultural co-operatives.
24.9.2009
The board is composed of top leaders from the largest member organizations as well as from the Norwegian Farmers’ Union and the Norwegian Farmers’ and Smallholders’ Union. The composition of the board makes it strategically important to Norwegian agriculture.
FNAC has 15 nationwide member organizations, all of which, with the exception of Gjensidige, are 100 percent owned and managed by 50 000 Norwegian farmers from all across the country. The co-operative companies are involved in a wide range of commercial activities that are based on the processing and selling of raw materials from agriculture and forestry. Other activities include insurance, financial services, consulting, livestock breeding and purchasing equipment. The most well-known co-operatives are TINE, Nortura and Felleskjøpet.
The co-operatives have a total turnover of 69 billion NOK, employ approximately 18 000 people and are market leaders among their respective areas of business.
